South Mountain Region is home to the largest body of water in Colorado, Blue Mesa Reservoir, which produced the state record lake trout at 50.35 pounds! Summertime offers serious hiking adventure in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and Curecanti National Recreation Area. Rafting the Arkansas River further enhances the attraction of this region! The Collegiate Peaks range is home to a crop of 14,000 foot peaks and can be seen by traveling the Collegiate Peaks Scenic Byway.
