In general, Colorado is known for 3 primary types of geography - Eastern Plains, Rocky Mountains and Western slope. Colorado is the 8th largest state in terms of area at 104,094 square miles. The lowest elevation is near Holly at approximately 3,800 feet above sea level and the highest point is Mt. Elbert at 14,422 feet. In order to present Colorado camping and outdoors in a way that’s easier to consume, Colorado Frontiers organizes Colorado into 12 regions.
